Western Montana Grazing and Agriculture Conference
Missoula, January 25-26, 2018
Missoula Conservation District will assist Lake County Conservation District in bringing this successful conference back to Missoula in 2018! The conference will feature Utah State University’s Dr. Fred Provenza as the keynote speaker. Dr. Provenza specializes in ethnobotany, evolutionary biology, and ecology. Conference topics will include grazing management, soil health and testing, pollinator planting, real life case studies, among many others. Stay tuned for more information and the agenda. Prior to the conference, on Wednesday, January 24, Dr. Provenza will give a free community talk on how crop and livestock rearing affects the health benefits those foods provide. This talk will take place at the University of Montana, specific location and time TBA.
Low Stress Livestock Handling Workshop Featuring Curt Pate

In September 2017, Missoula Conservation District and Bitterroot Conservation District hosted renowned stockman Curt Pate in Victor, Montana. Mr. Pate demonstrated and discussed concepts of low stress livestock handling for improved grazing during this field based workshop on a local ranch.
This was a concerted effort among Area 5 conservation districts: Lake County Conservation District hosted Mr. Pate on September 18 in Charlo and Deer Lodge Valley Conservation District co-hosted with Granite County Conservation District on September 20 in Gold Creek.
